“Grummans to Galveston Fly-in”

January 20-22, 2023

GOPA member Glen Thomas has put together a fun weekend for us down in Galveston, TX.  Along with all the usual fun attractions in the “Oleander City”, the 14th annual “Yaga’s Chili Quest and Beer Fest” will be taking place at this time.  https://yagaschiliquest.com/

The FBO, Island Jet Center (409-572-2555) https://www.islandjetcenter.com/ will handle booking your room at the Marriott Courtyard on the Seawall which is located just off the end of the runway.  The FBO’s preferred rate for pilots is incredible for Galveston and far better than you’ll be able to get on your own.  A king room is only $99/night plus taxes and fees.  Breakfast is available, though not included.

As there is no reasonable or practical public transportation option available, we’ll all need to rent cars.  The FBO acts as an Enterprise agent and if you have an Enterprise profile, they can book your car for you at the same time they arrange for your hotel room.  They will have your car delivered to the airport, but please book early to insure it’ll be there when you arrive.  Same thing with the hotel, be sure to book early to insure availability.  If you’d be interested in sharing a car with another member, let Glen gleninsand@yahoo.com or me southern@grummanpilots.org know and we’ll do our best to match you up with others interested in doing the same.
