James Nebrig, the son of long time member Ken Nebrig has asked me to get a notice out to the membership. What started out as an AYA air-camping event several years ago when Ken was the director of the Four Corners Region has morphed into a much larger combined gathering.
The Arizona Pilots Association and the Recreational Aviation Foundation has asked James to host the "Payson Fly-In and Air Camping Weekend on April 5-7, 2019.
See the details below. Sounds like a fun time! Scott Sanders
Payson, Arizona (KPAN) Fly-In and Air Camping Weekend
Last year, the first weekend of April gave us perfect weather for our annual Payson Fly-In and Air Camping weekend, so we are going to try it again! Pull your Grumman out of the hangar after the long, hard winter (as hard as we get them here in the Southwest!) and join a few of us Arizona Grummans and some other flying friends from around Arizona and New Mexico for a fun weekend of flying, friends, great food and songs around the campfire as we host the Payson Fly-In and Air Camping weekend on April 5-7 at the Payson Regional Airport (KPAN). Throw your tent and sleeping bag in the back of the Grumman and join us for lunch on Saturday, a dutch-oven potluck dinner, and overnight stay at the airport. You camp just a few feet from your airplane and some of our more talented pilots will be pulling out their guitars and other instruments to entertain us around the campfire. It is a tradition that many of our campground chefs will be bringing their trusty dutch ovens and trying out some of their best chuckwagon recipes for everyone.
You can't find a better place to air camp in all of Arizona. Payson Airport Campground features individual campsites right next to the paved tiedown ramp (bring ropes), fire rings with free firewood, grills, running water, real bathrooms and HOT showers. For those who are not great campground chefs, the Crosswinds Cafe is right up on the transient ramp just a very short walk from the campground and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It is definitely time to pull the plane out of the hangar and set course for Payson on April 5-7. Join us for the day or for the whole weekend.

See you there!
