Beaufort Waterfront Park

Another coastal day trip or weekend gem for those in the area or traveling through. We went over for an afternoon. The Marine Airstation is only 6 miles to the west so contact Beaufort APP on 118.45 and keep in mind that Runway 7 has right traffic. If only in for the day, contact UNICOM on 122.7 and have them call a taxi($10 each way) for the quick 10 minute ride to town. We were dropped off on Bay Street and walked the waterside park. There are plenty of choices for dining and we ended up on the back porch/deck of Luther's for a late leisurely lunch. Sit in a swing or take a blanket and lay out on the grass. Beaufort has plenty more offerings (tours/B&Bs) off of Bay St/Waterside and once we indulge in such we'll cover them in another PIREP.

Nice Lunch/Dinner on field Restaurant

51J has a simple N/S runway, no taxiway, and a small ramp (big enough for maybe 10 planes) with a nice place to eat on the field.
