Annual International Convention
AYA's annual international convention is held in the summer, somewhere in North America. The convention is organized and run entirely by volunteers led by a volunteer convention chair. AYA's volunteer vice president is responsible for identifying convention venues and recruiting the convention chair.
Since 2000, volunteers have provided daily web coverage of the annual convention:
- AYA 2000, Laconia, New Hampshire
- AYA 2001, Blue Ash, Ohio
- AYA 2002, Cody, Wyoming
- AYA 2003, St. Simons Island, Georgia
- AYA 2004, Baraboo, Wisconsin
- AYA 2005, Sacramento, California
- AYA 2006, Fredericksburg, Texas
- AYA 2007, Glens Falls, New York
- AYA 2008, Burlington, Iowa
- AYA 2009, Red Deer, Alberta
- AYA 2010, Dayton, Ohio
AYA leaders make every effort to rotate the location from east to west and back in a four-year cycle—east, central, west, central, and so on—to ensure as many AYA members as possible can attend. But it is difficult to find a venue with an airport and a convention hotel suitable to our needs. And then somebody must be found to act as volunteer convention chair.
If you know of a great location for an AYA convention, or if you'd like to give several weeks of your life as convention chair, please contact AYA's vice president at vp@aya.org.
T-Shirt Designs have been a topic of discussion at most conventions. You can view most of them here.
